The Beauty of Flowers: A Fight Against Cancer
June 9, 2017 | BY Philippine Tatler
For more than a decade, Philippine Cancer Society’s Best Dressed Women—the country’s longest running fashion gala for a cause—has helped make tests and treatments accessible to all Filipino cancer patients.
Women with Heart and Style
Since May, Okada Manila’s Les Fleurs has designed and sold special flowers inspired by some of the previous gala awardees. These beautifully arranged blooms are still available for sale until the end of October and part of the proceeds will go to the Philippine Cancer Society.
Six stylish and extraordinary mothers had a chance to spend a day with their daughters and participate in a photoshoot with their beautifully-designed bouquets at W17 Home.
“We got our inspiration for our designs from the previous select awardees of the organization. They are women of class, style, wisdom and strength. They are also mothers who, through their love and guidance, allow their own children to bloom into adulthood like the beautiful flowers we use in their bouquets,” explains Okada Manila’s Director for Floral Operations Jeremy Cristobal.
For Small Laude, Director of Timson Securities, Inc., the most precious lesson she taught her 12-year old daughter Allison is to be honest and be true to herself. She advises her to be grateful and to leave everything to God so things can fall into their places.
Her bouquet, “The Promise,” is made up of immaculate white flowers—tulips, Calla lilies, Colombian roses and gypsophila— that carries a promise of pure heart, true love, innocence and forgiveness.
Meanwhile, the gentle and delicate Calla lilies, Lisianthus flowers, spray roses, Eustomas and Esperance roses that are in Grace Barbers-Baja’s “Shades of Pink” bouquet radiate the feeling of happiness and joy. As a lifestyle blogger, she helps make a difference in women’s lives by sharing good, happy and positive thoughts that she hopes to inspire women to live life fully.
ABS-CBN Assistant Vice President for Advertising and Sales Tootsy Angara’s “Gentle Bloom” is marked by its simplicity and charm. Her flower arrangement symbolizes grace, gentleness and innocence through its pink and white glow. Being a busy working mom, Tootsy treasures every precious moment with her daughter Nessie. She enjoys their funny conversations before going to sleep, reminding her that love, kindness and compassion are the three most important things in the world today.
CEO and President of iSports Lifestyle Inc. (FILA Philippines) Cris Albert, celebrity dermatologist and wellness expert Dr. Aivee Teo and owner of Luxuri, luxury handbag, shoes and accessories retailer, Alelee Aguilar Andanar also participated in the campaign and have special bouquets made which are inspired by their personality and lifestyle.
“The fight against cancer is everyone’s fight. All of us know someone who have suffered and have been affected by cancer one way or the other and it is our responsibility to save lives by helping those in need get the proper diagnosis and treatment. This is why we are happy and proud to partner with Okada Manila. We are truly grateful for their efforts in raising funds for the Philippine Cancer Society,” says Angola Consul Helen Ong.
For every purchase of these special bouquets until September 15, guests will get a raffle entry which will give them a chance to win an Okada VIP Experience and an exclusive invite to the annual Best Dressed Women Gala Event on September 26. | To know more about the Blossom with Love bouquets, log on to www.okadamanila.com.
