Works from both master artists and National Artists will be up for (online) auction from 23-24 January 2021

In what could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some collectors, Leòn Gallery is offering patrons a chance to acquire works made by some of the most notable names in Philippine society. This weekend, from 23 to 24 January 2021, the Leòn Exchange Online Auction 18 will be featuring works curated by Dr Joel Malixi. The first day will carry The Collector's Vault and will include furniture, objets d'art, silver, glass, porcelain, and china. Meanwhile, day two will feature The Heiress' Homes and Tables. The auction is set to begin at 11 am on each day.

Headlining the various fine pieces are photographs done by the Philippines' first “Licentiate” of the Royal Photographic Society, Jaime Zobel de Ayala. His floral photographs, “Plants and Leaves I-IV” (from 11” x 9” to 12.5” x 11.5”), “Tulips I-III” (from 13” x 6” to 13” x 8.5”), and “Lilies I-III” (from 11.5” x 8.5” to 13.5” x 7.5”), capture the fleeting beauty of his subjects through a digital montage collage that can be described as "playful and meditative at the same time."

Ramon Orlina, known for his gorgeous abstract glass sculptures, will also be auctioning some of his works. The piece "Abstrex" features the silhouette of Mother and Child, while "Visions 7" mimics the form of a "faceted gem".

Noted names such as Juvenal Sanso, Antonio Mahilum, and Benedicto "BenCab" Cabrera will also have works on the lineup. Sanso's pieces include a cityscape painted with acrylic on canvas, as well as a "forest and floral ensemble" painted with oil on canvas. Collectors can also anticipate Cabrera's signature "Sabel" at the Leòn Exchange Online Auction, this time as an archival print on acid-free paper.

National Artists Napoleon Abueva, Eduardo Castrillo, Arturo Luz, and Vicente Manansala will also have pieces that can be bid on, as well other contemporary artists such as Pam Yan Santos, Geraldine Javier, Kawayan de Guia and Max Balatbat.

The exhibition will be open to the public starting on January 16 (Saturday) to 13 (Friday) from 9 AM to 7 PM. Previews of these lots will be at Leòn Gallery in Warehouse 14, La Fuerza Compound, Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. It’s as simple as going to leonexchange.com and registering as a buyer.
