Kruger Shalati, otherwise known as the Train on the Bridge, will open atop the iconic Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Saying we’re all dreaming of the day when it’s safe to travel again would be an understatement... but Kruger Shalati just added another reason to eagerly anticipate the return of international adventures by way of a luxury hotel perched atop the Selati Bridge in South Africa.

The Kruger Shalati Train Lodge sits delicately above the Sabie River while offering unparalleled views of Kruger National Park below. The ideal combination of adventure and luxury, Kruger Shalati boasts both breathtaking natural splendour and relaxing amenities as well as the thrill of sleeping suspended in the air.

“Even though we’re experiencing a nationwide lockdown, the excitement of the outdoors grows stronger and stronger,” the hotel said in a statement on Instagram. “We’re looking forward to heading back to construction on the Kruger Shalati Train on a Bridge. and experiencing the beauty of its surroundings.”

The new luxurious lodging boasts 31 different guest rooms running up and down the bridge (including 24 carriage rooms and 7 luxury bridge house rooms) that each have access to a bespoke terrace and pool—with crocodile, hippos, and elephants mere meters below.

“Thought-provoking, unique design is core to our offering, but the holistic experience is centred around our human-ness, our cultural nuances, the people involved in the making of every element, and ultimately the kindness with which we receive our guests.” the property said in a statement on its website.

While it’s still quite unclear as to when international travel will be fully attainable once again,  for now, the train lodge will be available to book for the beginning of September 2020 onward.
