A bit more lighthearted than the rest on the list, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel tells the story of Midge Maisel, a housewife in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. The era — romantic and creative in itself — is portrayed beautifully in this comedy-drama starring Rachel Brosnahan, Jane Lynch, Alex Borstein, and more.

In the show, Midge Maisel discovers her talent for stand-up comedy and does her best to pursue a career in New York City. Through the craziness of the Big Apple, fans are able to catch a glimpse of the funny but heartfelt story behind the ups and downs of what it takes to make people laugh.

6/8 Forever

A sci-fi thriller of sorts, Forever puts a spotlight on the life of Dr. Henry Morgan, immortal for over 200 years. Though audiences meet him as a medical examiner in New York City, Dr. Henry Morgan is much more than that. Having first died as a doctor aboard a ship during the African slave trade, Dr. Morgan disappears each time he dies and returns to life just as he was. Follow this series to discover the secrets behind Dr. Morgan’s amazing life story, which is an enigma even to himself.

7/8 Homecoming

A drama starring the likes of Julia Roberts, Stephan James, and Sam Esmail, Homecoming focuses on the story of Heidi Bergman, a social worker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre. Run by the Geist Group, the facility is run to help soldiers transition from the field back into civilian life. In later years, as Bergman is called to question her time at the facility, she comes to realise that not all is as it seems at the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre. An intriguing tale of deception and politics, Homecoming is both a haunting mystery and a gripping drama made to boot.

8/8 Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey is a British historical drama set in the  eponymous country estate in Yorkshire.
