While BTS’s Jungkook isn’t active on Instagram, he has just created an account for his dobermann Bam—a purrfect excuse to take a look at other K-pop and K-drama stars’ furry companions

Korean stars usually share very little about their private lives on social media, which is often reserved for their projects and collaborations, but it seems this rule doesn’t apply to their floofy friends. On Instagram, in particular, singers, actors and models from South Korea can’t help but post unbearably cute snaps of their pets, share selfies taken with their furbabies, or vlog about how they take care of them.

Whether it’s Blackpink’s Jennie buying Chanel for her pets, BTS’s V sharing snippets of his daily life with his Pomeranian, Start-up actor Nam Joo-hyuk bringing his poodle on set or rapper Jessi sharing the stage with her dog—here are 10 of our favourite Korean celebs—across K-pop, K-drama and more—and their faithful companions. Excuse us, we have to go back to high-pitched squeeing now.

Blackpink’s Lisa and her cats (plus one dog)

Lisa of Blackpink is a well-known cat-lover, and she has adopted no less than five furry feline friends, whose names all start with “L” to match their hoomin: Leo, Luca, Lily, Louis and Lego.

The Lalisa singer also has a dobermann named Love. She’s even dedicated a separate Instagram account for her furry family: @lalala_lfamily.

BTS’s Jungkook and his dogs

Anything Jungkook does goes viral, so there was no reason why his love for his pets wouldn’t as well.

His dog, a dobermann named Bam, has captured the hearts of many BTS fans all over the world, and in March last year the hashtag #jeonbam received more than 100 million views on TikTok. The Instagram account he created for his dog in April 2024, under the name @bowwow_bam, got more than 3 million followers in 24 hours.

Also in 2022, Jungkook introduced fans to two new family members: Italian greyhounds Song and Paengie. We love a dog dad.

Park Seo-joon and his dog

Between What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018), Itaewon Class (2020), a cameo in Parasite (2019) and a highly anticipated appearance in The Marvels (2023), Park Seo-joon is everywhere these days. And so is his faithful companion Simba, who is not a lion but a bichon frisé. The 34-year-old actor can’t seem to stop posting about his dog—and if the countless likes on those posts are anything to go by, his legions of fans don’t want him to stop either.

However, did you know that Seo-joon is not the only K-drama star with a bichon frisé? Song Hye-kyo, Shin Se-kyung, Bae Suzy and many others also have this fluffy breed as pets.

Park Min-young and her dog

Park Min-young, Seo-joon’s co-star in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, is also part of the bichon frisé lovers club, having adopted her dog Leon in 2015. In fact, Leon’s resemblance to Seo-Joon’s Simba has left many fans amazed.

Leon often makes cameos in videos on the actress’ YouTube channel, Just Parkminyoung, where he offers us lots of playful and candid moments. Looks like his mum isn’t the only one who is natural in front of the camera.

Nam Joo-hyuk and his dogs

Model and actor Nam Joo-hyuk’s Instagram page is full of pictures of his two poodles, Ga-eul and Gob-soon, and there is no mistaking his love for them. The proud papa seems to have trouble not spoiling them, and can be found buying them matching backpacks and coats, and even bringing them with him on photoshoots.

Jessi and her dog

Korean rapper Jessi is no regular dog mum (she’s a cool dog mum) and her pomeranian Chewie is “no regular dog” either, according to pup’s own Instagram bio... because “bish my mommy is @jessicah_o”.

With 161k followers on the platform, the four-year-old immaculately groomed pup’s life sure is luxurious. From play dates with other doggos and tasty treats to endless cuddles and being brought on stage by Jessi, Chewie is seriously living the dream.

BTS’s V and his dog

Since (almost) day one, BTS’s V has shared his unconditional love for his pomeranian, Yeontan—who is also known as Tannie to the BTS ARMY—with his fans on social media. When news of the dog’s adoption broke in 2017, it stayed in the 15th spot on Twitter’s list of trending topics for a good few days. Since then, Yeontan has been so popular that he has even built his own fan base.

Blackpink’s Jennie and her dogs

Jennie from Blackpink is the proud mama of two dogs: a pomeranian named Kuma and a cocker spaniel named Kai. These two pups have not only graced many of the K-pop star’s Instagram posts but also multiple magazine covers. The singer’s furkids are often seen riding in her family’s Porsche Cayenne and sporting Chanel just like their mum who’s been nicknamed the “human Chanel” for her relationship with the luxury fashion house.

Son Ye-jin and her dog

Before Son Ye-jin gave birth to her son last year she was already a doting mum to her sweet pup, a maltese named Kitty. The actress’ Instagram is full of pictures with Kitty, and the dog was even spotted at her wedding to her Crash Landing on You (2019) co-star Kim Tae-pyung (better known as Hyun Bin) last year.

Stray Kids’ Lee Know and his cats

Boyband Stray Kids’ Lee Know has three adorable cats who often appear on his social media vlogs and photos. Named Soonie, Doongie and Dori, they are all rescues, so one thing is for sure: this Stray Kids’ member has a soft spot for strays.
