From the country’s best island to the world’s must-go travel destination, the Philippines can’t be more proud of its paradise pride
It is no longer a secret that the Philippines is considered a paradise. As a tropical country, its promising islands were swarmed by foreign travellers for years, especially those who have had too much of the chilly season and prefer to bask in the golden sunshine. Tourism in the Philippines has long been flourishing and it is undeniable that the country has been renowned for its incomparable sights: the hovering palm trees over pristine white sands that complements the cerulean waters of its divine beaches, on top of the exotic foods and refreshing beverages one can relish in.

In every corner, there are breathtaking views which demand to be stared at all day, making anyone pause for a minute and appreciate the exquisite beauty of nature. And as the sun goes down, parties from left to right are initiated and engagement with the locals and fellow explorers just magically flows. The Philippines is that kind of heaven on Earth, where one is sure to take home profound memories.
It is also no surprise that almost everyone is familiar with the country’s largest island. Palawan, or the Philippines’ Last Frontier, is a top travel destination known globally. Through both peak and off-seasons, it is filled with first-time and repeat tourists alike together with Filipinos who have had enough of the hustle and bustle within the Metro. Palawan is highly sought if one desires to relax, engage in activities with their beloved, or simply celebrate life. The sceneries of this stunning isle with its rich environment invite you to immerse yourself in its splendour.

Aptly magnificent as Palawan is, it was hailed as the “Most Desirable Island” in the 21st Wanderlust Travel Awards declared last November 9. Wanderlust travel magazine is one of the United Kingdom's most reliable publications leading the world to sustainable travel for 29 strong years. Along with Palawan, Cebu was nominated as Most Desirable Region internationally as well and the country’s tourism board through the Philippine Department of Tourism-Central Visayas Office placed 6th in the company of hundreds of special entries in the Wanderlust Sustainability Initiative Category for its Dive7 Program.
