Mothers and their bundles of joy

Mother’s Day falls this weekend so those who commemorate the occasion would already have special plans in store to show the queen of their lives a little extra love. With new additions to the family, Mother’s Day is even more special for some of our Tatler community members, who share with us the joy that their Tatlings bring in this week’s newsletter cover story. Rachel Wee, Vihari Poddar and Kelly Keak reveal what it’s been like expanding their families and the lessons learnt, while Sabrina Ho lets us in on how becoming a new mum has changed her life.

Some of Singapore’s top chefs also reflected on how their mothers, grandmothers and even godmothers have left a tangible mark on their culinary philosophies. These are some heartwarming stories to read, so when you're done, be sure to head down to their restaurants to feast on their dishes touched with the memory of love.

Here are some other headlines in this week’s newsletter:

Mothers are known to wear many hats—from being a caregiver to a chauffeur, they can do it all. For founder and managing director of homegrown aromatherapy brand Hysses, Cheryl Gan, it is no different—except that on top of being a mum of four, she is also a busy entrepreneur.

From taking care of her kids at home to taking care of her “kids at work” (according to her), Gan is constantly on top of things. Yet, when asked about how she stays motivated to continue as a mum and an entrepreneur, she smiles warmly and replies cheerfully: “It’s my passion.”

Still, Calista’s style is imbued with a lot more attitude than her mother’s playfully feminine outfits. However, instead of twinning in matching outfits, the mother-daughter duo prefer to play off their different styles, complementing each other nicely.
