Cedie Lopez-Vargas heads the Lopez Group Foundation, is the executive director of the Lopez Museum and Library, and is a champion of Filipino arts and culture

There are many different companies in just as many fields under the Lopez Group, but all of its corporate social responsibility efforts are organised and coordinated under the Lopez Group Foundation, of which Mercedes Lopez Vargas is president and executive director. She is also the executive director of the Lopez Museum and Library, one of the Philippines’ first privately-run museums and ​​one that’s dedicated to preserving Filipino art and heritage. It houses artworks by some of the greatest Filipino artists, including Juan Luna and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo; as well as Rizaliana and Filipiniana items.

Simultaneously, Lopez-Vargas is the chair of the Lopez Human Resources Council, and a trustee for the ABS-CBN Foundation and the Asian Eye Institute. She is also involved in BINHI, a reforestation program by the Lopez-owned Energy Development Corporation. In 2021, she was elected as a director of First Philippine Holdings Corporation.

Beyond Lopez companies, Ms. Vargas is a trustee of the Philippine Advocacy for Arts Foundation, Inc, which organises the nationwide Philippine Art Awards. She’s also president of Stilo Artefino Foundation, Inc, a movement that advocates the preservation, promotion, and sustainability of Philippine artisanal crafts and livelihood.
