Like her older sister Tessie, Elizabeth “Betty” Sy proves time and time again that she is not just heiress to prolific businessman, Henry Sy. Rather, she is one who has a clear vision of success for their business, most especially the SM Hotels and Conventions Corp (SMHCC) which she helms as president and chairman.

The SMHCC manages and develops nine hotel properties including Taal Vista Hotel, Pico Sands Hotel, Conrad Manila, Radisson Blu Cebu, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod, Park Inn by Radisson Clark, Park Inn by Radisson Davao, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo, and Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA. Alongside hotel properties, SMHCC also manages the SMX Convention Centers (SMXCC) and trade halls in eight venues across the country.

Betty has since then been driving the company to success by making improvements and innovations in the properties, hoping to effectively provide optimum hospitable accommodation and convention facilities. For her and the company’s tireless promotion and significant contribution in developing the local tourism industry, the prestigious Skål International gave her the Tourism Personality Award for the hotel category.
