Jaime Augusto Zobel De Ayala

Chairman, Ayala Corporation

He has put sustainability at the forefront of the Ayala conglomerate’s mission

Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, the chairman of the Ayala Corporation, is a man of great vision, a forward thinker and a tycoon with great concern for the world around him. Under his leadership, the Ayala Corporation has become one of the country’s most compliant companies to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards, making it one of the most professional institutions with an active focus on sustainability and good governance.

“ESG is all about keeping our house in order while understanding which of the different environmental, social and governance factors are becoming increasingly important to our stakeholders,” Zobel de Ayala—popularly known by his initials, JAZA—remarked at the 14th International Innovation Summit held in September 2022. “ESG allows us to hold ourselves accountable regarding the impact that we create along environmental, social and governance lines.”

To emphasise the company's commitment to ESG compliance, properly structured materiality assessments and sustainability reporting have become part of the Ayala way of doing things. Zobel de Ayala, who took over the helm of Ayala Land Inc (ALI) in 2022, also pushes initiatives for sustainability, particularly in developing living communities where a healthy balance is made between human comforts and a thriving natural environment.

In 2023, Zobel de Ayala was part of the delegation that accompanied President Marcos to Davos in Switzerland. He was joined by Sabin Aboitiz, Kevin Tan, Ramon Ang and Lance Gokongwei.
