Martin “Mark” Lopez

Chairman, ABS-CBN Corporation

Mark Lopez is chairman of the Philippines’ largest media network, ABS-CBN

It’s impossible to measure the impact that ABS-CBN has had over its many decades of existence. It’s the Philippines’ largest media network—a conglomerate with interests in television, radio, film production, publishing, and more. At the helm of it all is a third-generation scion of the Lopez family: Mark Lopez, who, as chairman of ABS-CBN, is leading his family’s legacy media company into a new age. He was elected chairman in April 2018, succeeding his cousin Gabby Lopez. He also succeeded Gabby Lopez as vice-chairman of Lopez Holdings Corporation in October 2020.

Before joining ABS-CBN, Mark Lopez was a business leader in a separate Lopez company: the Manila Electric Company, or Meralco. He was vice president and chief information officer, and was president of e-Meralco Ventures, Inc until 2010. He then joined ABS-CBN as chief technology officer.

To his role as chairman of ABS-CBN, Lopez brings years of experience as well as a top-notch education: he graduated from Menlo College in California with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and then from the Asian Institute of Management with an executive MBA. He also completed INSEAD’s general management program in 2017.
