Here’s what you missed: She Loves Tech is a global programme that funds women-led tech start-ups that was founded by Leanne Robers, Rhea See and Virginia Tan in 2015. The programme elevates women in tech by highlighting the latest innovations built by women and by maintaining a database for women-led start-ups to connect founders, investors and more. Today, the organisation is considered the largest acceleration platform for women and technology.
“There are a lot of women founders out there, they’re just not given the opportunity or the platform to go global,” said See during her welcome speech.
It is also the organiser of one of the world’s largest start-up competitions, and the Hong Kong edition took place on June 21 at PMQ. The theme for this year’s She Loves Tech 2023 Hong Kong & Macau Pitch Competition & Conference, held in partnership with Tatler Hong Kong, the MTR Corporation, Swire Group, Invest Hong Kong and others, was Metamorphosis.
After welcoming speeches from the founders, the event kicked off with opening remarks by Jayne Chan, head of Invest Hong Kong’s StartmeupHK programme, who highlighted the city’s diverse start-up ecosystem.
