The Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group simply can’t wait to tell you what’s cooking. Though it took them one pie at a time, they are finally ready to serve to the Philippine audience the Tony-nominated Waitress: The Musical. Award-winning stage and film actress Joanna Ampil plays the lead character Jenna Hunterson, a woman coping with and trying to survive life with an abusive husband. Playing the part of her two co-workers and supportive best friends, Becky and Dawn, are Bituin Escalante and Maronne Cruz, respectively. The story, written by Jessie Nelson, was later adapted to film. Original music and lyrics are by American singer-songwriter Sarah Bareilles. The Philippine production of Waitress: The Musical will be directed by Bobby Garcia. Atlantis has staged several successful plays like Beauty and the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, and just recently, Matilda and Kinky Boots.
