Behind The Scenes: January 2019
We start off this brand new year with Philippine Tatler’s Most Stylish Lady 2019, Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez!
Although the phrase “beautiful inside and out” has become cliché, it is the most apt description for this woman. She has served as the congresswoman of her native city Ormoc in Leyte since 2010. During her watch, Ormoc bore the brunt of super typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan), one of the strongest tropical typhoons on record. Lucy and her husband, Mayor Richard Gomez, have made it their mission to rebuild what has been lost; and today, Ormoc is on its road to recovery.
In this issue, we present her with all of Asia’s Most Stylish Ladies from across the region, photographed at the iconic Morpheus Hotel in Macau. Among our many intriguing features are: a forum on entrepreneurship, a travel piece on Chile, a list of 2019’s go-to destinations as well as this year’s must-do for adventurers! BEHIND THE SCENES
A congresswoman of Ormoc, wife to Richard Gomez, and mother to 18-year-old Juliana—these are what’s on the plate of our cover subject, Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez. It is oftentimes hard to juggle all things at once but it is a skill that Lucy has gradually mastered out of love for the work that she does.
Despite her busy schedule, Lucy walked into the studio for this pictorial with the most relaxed disposition—warming and charming everyone with her gently-spoken hello matched with a genuine smile. The team immediately went to work. Wasting no time herself, the stunner sat on the make-up chair of veteran hair and make-up artist Patrick Rosas. Even without make-up, Lucy looked beautiful; with make-up, she looked even more radiant. From her svelte figure to her youthful face, one couldn’t tell that this was a woman in her forties—moreso, a mother to a teenager.
Like our previous representatives to Asia’s Most Stylish, Lucy breathes and embodies style. In her dainty white dress and Roger Vivier shoes, she moved with grace and spoke softly. She would crack jokes with the glam team every so often, yet still remained refined and composed. We were delightfully surprised as she posed fiercely in front of photographer Patrick Diokno’s lens. There was little direction needed as her celebrity-model years were not too far behind her.
