Typhoon Mangkhut (with local name Ompong) made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan in the wee hours of September 15. After unleashing its initial onslaught of maximum winds of up to 205 kph and gustiness of up to 255 kph, the typhoon made its way towards Ilocos region, leaving a trail of destruction in the northern part of Luzon. 74 people have died and 52 were declared missing in its wake. An estimated 500,000 individuals Figures are still expected to rise because of the landslide in Benguet. While it wasn’t officially declared as a supertyphoon, Mangkhut was so far the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year. To help, here are some foundations you can contact and donate to:
