At his homecoming, he aims to reach out to potential event stylists and florists through a Masterclass and a benefit gala.

Known for his modern classic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary approach to event styling, internationally acclaimed designer Jerry Sibal is back in the Philippines for a worthy cause: to give back by sharing his trove of knowledge through a Masterclass and a charity gala.

“This is not the first time that I came back to the Philippines, but now I would like to focus more on my personal CSR. My advocacy is on education and sharing my knowledge and experience to a new generation of young talents,” says Sibal.

To be held at Dusit Thani Manila are two workshops such as the Floral and Event Design and Advanced Event Styling and Creative Business Masterclass, on 20 and 21-23 March, respectively. “Our one-day beginner’s class will focus more on basic arrangements, and get students to be more comfortable with working with flowers. Our three-day advance class is more challenging, as they will be creating more elaborate arrangements that I will ask them to build. It has equal parts of lecture and laboratory and a day where we can debrief our work on the last day,” he shares.

Complementing the Masterclass is An Event To Remember: A Benefit Gala by Jerry Sibal, which will be held on Friday, 22 March 2019, at the same hotel. “For the gala night, the students will be creating different vignettes, where we will be mixing floral art, technology and entertainment for them to experience how it is to produce a spectacular event for guests to enjoy and appreciate and to make it truly an event to remember,” Sibal reveals. Proceeds will be for the benefit of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

As part of his advocacy to promote Filipino culture, Sibal also designed the spectacular set of the much-awaited Noli me Tangere, the Opera, which opens on Friday, 8 March 2019 at the Cultural Centre of the Philippines. “One of our greatest projects that encapsulates my heritage as a Filipino is the Noli me Tangere, the Opera. It speaks a lot about our culture and the great mind of our national artist and hero, Jose Rizal” he says.

Sibal aims to encourage potential creative minds to strengthen the Filipino mentality of “Tangkilikin and Sariling Atin” by helping local talents become world-class designers.
