WYNN WYNN ONG

Favourite Christmas food?

For us, roast turkey with a stuffing of wild rice, chestnuts, and chanterelle; a salad with fresh oranges, cranberries, walnuts, and brie; truffled potato mash with shitake, and a ham baked with apricot jam, fresh orange juice, cloves, and cinnamon sticks!

Christmas traditions?

To kick off the season, we normally put up our tree on Thanksgiving, while the turkey is being roasted. Second, My sisters and I grew up with a tradition of opening an Advent Calendar so I try to incorporate that for my grandsons. My husband and I normally host Noche Buena for our kids and in-laws.

MIKO ASPIRAS

Favourite Christmas food?

My favourite Christmas meal is my Lola's macaroni mayo and cheese salad. I don't know why I love it so much but to me, her blend is so unique and distinct that it reminds me so much of my childhood. I also love the smell of freshly baked cookies in the morning of Christmas day, waking everone up from Christmas eve.

Christmas Traditions?

Since I moved in with my husband JV 6 years ago, I've made it a point that I cook for him and his family during Christmas ever. Ever since it's been more and more grand and challenging for me... Haha I'm competitive that way!

FRANNIE JACINTO

Favourite Christmas food?

Prime rib and a turkey with all the trimmings including a family favorite- my mother in law's  mashed kamote topped with roasted marshmallows that everyone enjoys.

Christmas Traditions?

Our family tradition is a Christmas dinner (on December 25th) with the Jacinto- Aguinaldo families in my house that includes all my husband's grandchildren (around 25-30 people).

This is when the family exchanges their gifts. Afterwards, my husband brings out his guitar and everyone sings a song or two or three.

Christmas tradition?

Christmas Eve means not eating all day and saving space for noche buena, then the whole family gathers around the sala to listen to my dad’s Christmas playlist -- we all tell jokes and share stories. On Christmas Day we go to my Lola’s house in Bulacan and continue to eat, this time delicious Bulacan Pastillas and lechon!

JUAN CARLO CALMA

Favourite Christmas food?

We normally always have Christmas dinner in our house - the Angeles side or moms side of the family - it’s a potluck setting where everyone brings a food that they personally cooked. My aunt makes the best ceasar salad! We normally try to balance the feasting out so we don’t eat too much fatty foods... but of course Lechon will always be on the menu.

Christmas traditions?

A tradition we have is that we make a very non- traditional Christmas tree in our house!
