Childhood friends, Robert Tan and Rachel Felicia, recently tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Shangri-La at The Fort. Now, the newlyweds are looking forward to more adventures together

Robert Tan and Rachel L Felicia had known each other 15 years before tying the knot last February 20, 2021. The newlyweds first met in childhood, as classmates at the Makati Hope Christian School. However, their love story only officially began after graduating from university, when—as the bride puts it—Rachel was “allowed to date”.

What followed was a beautiful romance filled with travel and adventure. Robert had proposed on a ski trip in Niseko, Japan last 20 January 2020. After their wedding, the adventurous couple had also enjoyed an extended vacation in Amanpulo last March 2021. Now, they say, there are plans to head to Pangulasian island in June 2021 and Botswana in September 2021.

An exciting life awaits this young couple, who were wed at Shangri-La at The Fort, Manila. The wedding ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom Foyer, followed by a reception at the Bonifacio Ballroom.

The bride wore a Mak Tumang ballgown with floral and satin appliqués, French lace and Swarovski crystals, which she paired with Jimmy Choo ivory pumps. The dashing groom complemented his bride with a Joey Samson suit and Prada Oxfords. The guests were served a delicious 8-course Chinese dinner catered by Canton Road of Shangri- La at the Fort, Manila.

Though the couple had had to keep their wedding intimate, they say there are plans to celebrate post- pandemic. “Most of my relatives live abroad and we didn’t feel comfortable risking the health of our loved ones by having them participate. [We want to celebrate our union] when we can all come together and celebrate [again],” Rachel said.

Though the ceremony had been scaled down, the couple agree that it was still the best day of their lives. “Our wedding was always about the beginning of an everlasting union and the love we shared with our [friends and family].”
