Paing and Mely Hechanova’s Wedding Anniversary

Hundreds of orchids wowed the select 130 dinner guests invited to celebrate the 61st wedding anniversary of Paing and Mely Hechanova. White Phalaenopsis framed the doorway and eight-foot “trees” of dendrobiums served as centrepieces for the dining tables. The celebration, held at the couple’s elegant residence, was perfect in every detail—starting with the gold and Tiffany blue invitation, and concluding with the beautiful giveaway of made-to-order white porcelain bowls; from the food by Asia’s Best Female Chef for 2016 Margarita Forés to the songs from Martin Nievera and Zsa-Zsa Padilla. 

50th Latin Charity Ball

Mimes and men on stilts welcomed guests and VIPs to the golden anniversary celebration of the Latin Charity Ball held at Fairmont Makati Hotel. The circus-themed event filled the night with joy and fun as 350 attendees gathered to celebrate the 50 years of Club de Damas Latinas in the country.

The president of the club, Lisette Romero Donnelly, gave an affectionate greeting to the attendees shortly after. The highlights of the night were the traditional Latin Carnaval performances, where groups of professional dancers joined the crowd amidst the whistles, party poppers, and confetti. 

Commanderie De Bordeaux Mid-Year Induction

The Manila Chapter of Commanderie de Bordeaux welcomed four new members during its mid-year induction and dinner at Impressions, Maxims Hotel at Resorts World Manila. Flying in just for the occasion were guests of honour Hubert de Bouard, president of the Grand Conseil des Vins de Bordeaux, and Edouard Miailhe of Chateau Siran. Guests sampled the wonderful feast by Chef Cyrille Soenen, each dish paired with fine vantages of La Fleur de Bouard and Siran. The pièce de résistance was an exceptional Angelus 2000 that had been decanted at the start of the festivities.

Philippine Tatler Best Restaurants 2016 Launch

Philippine Tatler kicked off another year of gastronomic adventures with the launch of the 2016 edition of the Philippines' Best Restaurants. This year, the book recognised 170 restaurants. Co-hosted with Solaire Resort and Casino, and in partnership with Citibank and San Miguel Brewery, the event also marked the inaugural awarding of the Top 20 Restaurants. Personalities and friends from the hospitality industry, including City of Dreams' Charise Chuidian, Romulo Café's Sandie and Enzo Squillantini, joined Wildflour's Ana de Ocampo, Moët Hennessy's Steven Bullock, The Wholesome Table's Bianca Elizalde, Antonio's Isabel Lozano and many more in enjoying the night at Finestra.

The distinguished guest list of globetrotters filled the ballroom of the Raffles and Fairmont Makati for the launch of the latest issue of Philippine Tatler Traveller and the Art of Luxury Travel, the annual showcase of selected global brands who offer products and services that reflect the art of enjoying life and travel. 

Louie Ablaza’s 80th Birthday

For his birthday lunch at the family farm Amelia, Louie Ablaza sent a red cotton scarf, like what gentlemen wear over their native barong with the invitation. The red scarves were worn by almost all the men, adding colour to the barrio fiesta theme. The meal was a delicious Filipino fare served á la “boodle fight” on banana leaves; entertainment included dances by the Bayanihan Dance Company.

Philippine Tatler Gourmet Wine Dinner

What can be more congenial than enjoying an evening celebrating gourmet cuisine paired with stellar wines? This gracious gathering of friends is what Philippine Tatler and the Proscenium at Rockwell with Bacchus Epicerie organised featuring the exquisite food of Makati Shangri-La. 

Sixty friends started the evening over chilled glasses of bubbly at the spacious Edades function room of Rockwell. The sumptuous dinner then followed featuring a four course meal paired with wines from the Tuscan vineyards of Garofoli, Mantelassi and Carpineto. 

Alex Lichaytoo of Bacchus spoke about each wine's characteristics and how they were expressly chosen to complement each dish. 

Jul B Dizon Jewellery’s 38th Anniversary

Couture jewellery showcased like never before, attendees have the opportunity to see firsthand the fine crafted pieces by the Dizon sisters: Candy, Janina, Ginny, and Lucille. Each sister debuts a collection celebrating artistry, heritage and individual influences.

Johnny Litton’s 80th Birthday Celebration

With a guest list of almost 600 A-listers, the Marriott Grand Ballroom was filled with food, spirits, music, and well-wishes for master of ceremonies and columnist Johnny Litton on his 80th birthday. Present during the celebration were some of Litton’s friends from business, politics, and show business. A fashion show featuring Litton’s muses and the ladies of Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM), and a preview of the awardees for 2016 Best Dressed Women of the Philippines were part of the programme. Martin Nievera serenaded the guests to conclude the gathering.

Child Protection Network Benefit 2016

Guests at this year’s Child Protection Network (CPN) benefit enjoyed a night of art, fashion, and wine for a worthy cause. Miguel Aboitiz, Richie and Karen Lerma, Ito Curata, Renna Angeles, and Renato and Maritess Enriquez and more joined CPN Founders David and Katherine Bradley, and CPN President and Philippine Tatler Managing Director Irene Martel Francisco in enjoying the sumptuous feast prepared by the culinary team of Raffles and Fairmont Makati, and in raising funds to help protect and treat children from all kinds of abuse.

Filipina Women’s Network Gala Awards Night

The 100 Most Influential Filipinas, an annual search conducted by the San Francisco-based Filipina Women’s Network (FWN), drew up around 70 women led by Vice President Leni Robredo, who was first to receive hers, before the gala night at the Mactan Shangri-La ballroom. FWN is headed by founder and CEO Marily Mondejar, President Susie Quesada, and a board of directors. The Chairman of the 2017 FWN Leadership Global Summit, a four-day conference of a unique programme which culminates in this Awards Night, was Myrna Yao, while standing as its annual emcee par excellence is Gloria Caoile.

The Peninsula Manila’s 40th Anniversary Gala

Makati’s most iconic hotel has plenty of reasons to celebrate as it turns 40 this year. Guests arrived at the hotel lobby dressed in tuxedos and long gowns, exchanging pleasantries over a delectable spread of lechon, seafood, cheeses, and an assortment of wines and spirits. The historic gathering was graced by the Kadoories, the hotel’s founding family.  A performance by the original Las Guitaras guitar troupe added a touch of nostalgia. The attendees later spilled over to the hotel’s dining outlets to party the rest of the night away.

Salcedo Auctions’ The Well Appointed Life: An Auction Weekend at 8 Rockwell

Art-loving VIPs were treated to a lavish display of masterworks at Salcedo Auctions’ The Well Appointed Life: An Auction Weekend at 8 Rockwell. Featured foremost was a rare 1865 Banco Español Filipino de Isabel II ‘Diez Pesos Fuertes’. Also unveiled was the Important Philippine Art Collection featuring masterpieces by Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Fernando Amorsolo, Jose Joya, and BenCab, among others.

Philippine Tatler Generation T Party

Philippine Tatler revealed and presented a list of 100 young and dynamic industry leaders and creative individuals, aptly titled Generation T, through an exclusive soiree for 300 at the High Street Lounge in Shangri-La at the Fort. 

Who or what is Generation T? Generation T is composed of every 25-40 year old individual who is filled with potential. The top 100, are who Philippine Tatler considers to be the brightest connectors, creative visionaries and influential innovators transforming the Philippines. They are those who have made their marks, blazing their paths and seeking out their own fortunes.

Metropolitan Museum’s 40th Anniversary

Its 40th anniversary exhibition consists of more than 100 works by Filipino artists from the modern and contemporary period, complementary print collections of the MET and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and archival exhibition posters and catalogues. Keeping in mind its philosophy of "Art for All", the MET has organized educational programs throughout the duration of these exhibitions, such as a symposia on curatorial issues in contemporary art, specialized workshops for teachers and government workers, and tours for the visually-impaired.

Dom Pérignon Private Dinner

The iconic champagne house of Dom Pérignon hosted an intimate dinner a few nights ago at a private Penthouse in Bonifacio Global City. Champagne lovers gathered for cocktails and went on to have a six-course dinner, which was created by the chef Chele Gonzalez of Vask. Charles-Antoine Picart, Business Development Director for Asia Pacific Moët & Chandon and Olga Azarcon, Managing Director for Moët Hennessy Philippines were on hand to welcome guests and the evening started with Dom Pérignon 2006 served with canapés. Dinner was definitely an event to remember, each dish paired with a Dom Pérignon drink.

Philippine Tatler Homes Holiday Brunch

Philippine Tatler Homes recently launched its latest Luxe Living issue through a festive holiday brunch with 65 lovely ladies at the well-appointed Proscenium showroom at 8 Rockwell.

Dressed to the nines in their holiday-themed best the guests donned vibrant reds and greens as well as blues, white and silver, which coloured the space with merry spirit. A glorious spread, prepared by the chef Gilbert Pangilinan of Kai Restaurant, was enjoyed by all as they sipped Moët & Chandon rosé throughout the languorous affair. 

Delvaux in Manila

Delvaux, the oldest fine leather luxury goods house in the world (since 1829) arrived in the Philippines this December. The launch at 8 Rockwell has drawn all the stylish ladies and gents, including Jo Ann Bitagcol, Kim Jones, Jericho Rosales, Heart Evangelista, and Mark Bumgarner. Welcoming the guests were Homme et Femme’s Jappy Gonzalez and Delvaux Commercial Director for Asia Jean Lahirle.
