For the first time in 16 years, the Philippine Tatler Ball was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Shangri-La Fort, Manila, a welcome change of scene for the more than 500 guests in attendance.

The tremendous success of the much-anticipated annual fundraiser couldn’t have been achieved without the magnanimous support from the main partners Mercedes-Benz, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., and Santos Knight Frank, as well as the supporting partners, HSBC Premier and Albany by Megaworld.

This year’s beneficiary is the Child Protection Network Foundation, a cause, as revealed in Philippine Tatler’s Managing Director Irene Martel Francisco’s welcome remarks, that does vital work in preventing child abuse.

The evening’s beautiful co-hosts were Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi and Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez who, in their stunning Rajo Laurel creations, captivated the audience throughout the progam, the special ball awards and auction. Guests, of course, were stealing glam selfies and wefies using their newly acquired Philippine Tatler selfie light.

The Shangri-La at the Fort's Executive Chef Joris Rycken executed a marvellous Instagram-worthy five-course dinner creatively punctuated with Chinese influences. Guests throughly enjoyed each dish with stunning Bordeaux wines from Ronan by Clinet and the Nicolas Feuillatte Brut champagne for dessert and dancing.

Right before the special awarding commenced, songstress Regine Velasquez brought the house down as her three memorable numbers left everyone wanting for more.

Much-deserved recognition went to six awardees this year for their unstinting contributions in their respective fields. The 2017 awardees were Cary Santiago for Most Creative Force; Tootsy Angara for Most Stylish; benevolent couple David and Katherine Bradley (of the Child Protection Network) for The Philanthropy Award; Senator Loren Legarda for Patroness of The Arts; and Nedy Tantoco for The Diamond Award.

The exhilarating auction, which had four covetable lots up for bids, was expertly facilitated by the lovely ladies, Atty. Mike Toledo and Dr. Randy Francisco. These were an oil portrait by Mia Herbosa, an oil on canvas painting by Betsy Westendorp, an IWC Schaffhausen Portugierser Automatic watch, and one-weeks’ stay at Valfond (the Bradley home in Provence, France).

The auction, combined with many a generous donation has brought the total funds raised (to date) to a whopping Php 10,000,000.00 and counting.

Post auction, guests flocked to the special "Philippine Tatler Cover" photo booth as well as the dance floor while the 8 Track Band performed time-tested favourites. At midnight, DJ Emel Rowe took to the decks and kept dancing energy levels high till the wee hours.
