Aaron Davis and Rina Hiranand knew they wanted the ambience of a holiday for their altar date. “We wanted to step out of our hectic Hong Kong lives and be present with each other and our guests,” says Rina, who works in marketing. This special day she shares with Aaron is a culmination of six years of dating after their meet-cute in a common friend’s birthday party. “It was a fancy dress event and Rina was dressed in a dinosaur costume, which naturally led to a conversation,” recalls Aaron, who works in finance.

The Four Seasons Chiang Mai was studded with decked in flowers that evoked the magic of northern Thailand. “We went for a free-form and organic floral motif, almost as if it were embedded in the setting itself, with a chic and modern colour scheme inspired by autumn tones but softened by blush, peach, and yellow,” said the blushing bride.

The wedding festivities reflected the couple’s passions, like in the menu which was made up of their favourite Thai dishes. “Food is important to Rina and her family and we wanted to go Thai all the way. We decided to forgo the traditional banquet in favour of what we love,” shares the groom.

International jazz singer Deborah Davis and Bangkok’s Bump Jazz Trio performed during the couple’s first dance and reception, and Phuket-based DJ Nemo Cools kept the party going till late. Aaron and Rina singled out their favourite moment: their exchange of wedding speeches. Aaron’s heartwarming tribute to both their families brought tears to Rina’s eyes. And Rina, whom Aaron had never seen speak in public, did the latter proud with her own special speech.
