How do you dress girls with different personalities in a way that will make each of them happy, yet collectively stylish? Fret not, here's a list of 2018's trendiest threads that will make your bevy of bridemaids look like a million bucks.

1. Bold jewels

Jewel tones are appearing all over interior design lookbooks; and so are they on wedding mood boards. Dark emerald greens, rich mustard yellows and deep ruby reds provide a sultry and sophisticated alternative to saccharine pastels. Even the traditional pink is re-cast as Nostalgia Rose, a richer shade of pink with purple undertones.

2. Purple power

No prizes for guessing what the dominant wedding palette will be this season, with designers from Erdem to Victoria Beckham having lilac and lavender numbers in their latest spring collections, and Pantone announcing Ultra Violet as the colour of the year for 2018. The trick to pulling it off successfully is to have varying shades of purple with complementary hues like blue-grey.

3. Flower flourishes

Floral prints are blooming everywhere; just check out every major designer’s latest spring collection. Lucky for us, because they are perfect for injecting a touch of nature’s beauty into any indoor or outdoor wedding. Use them subtly on a few members of the entourage or just the maid or matron of honour, with the rest in bright colours or tones taken from the floral print palette.

4. Textured details

Soft fabrics and pastels are still in, but in jazzier forms with extra details such as delicately beaded tulle, intricate lace and sparkling crystals. Employ them sparingly and these little touches will ramp up the elegant and fun factor at any wedding, yet they are subtle enough not to upstage the bride’s gown.

5. Two-Piece thrillers

It’s an unusual choice, but two-piece ensembles for the bridal party can add a dash of fun and character to the wedding. It also gives your bridesmaids the flexibility of mixing and matching them with other pieces in their wardrobe. Go for glam in sequin and tulle numbers or cheeky sexy separates that reveal a sliver of skin.

Contrary to belief, it's possible wear a tiered dress without looking like a wedding cake. These elegant versions in organza, chiffon and lace have tiers that cascade ever so gently and naturally to give a romantic and free-spirited look. Perfect for fun-chic weddings, and sassy bridesmaids who baulk at movement-restricting dresses.
