After all of the amazing coverage from Hong Kong Art week, some of you may be in need of a watch fix. So we're taking you back to Baselworld—the watch and fine jewellery trade show held in Basel, Switzerland, just a week prior to Art Basel. Below, we share more notable watches we got to preview at the fair before they hit boutiques later this year.

Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 “We’ll see you on the other side”
Why we love it:

Omega unveiled another stunning Dark Side of the Moon timepiece at Baselworld, this time fitted with a decorated version of the Moonwatch movement, where we see the bridges and main plate appear like the lunar surface. And to present this in its full glory, the watch comes with a sketelonised dial.

Here you get a double lunar treat; its dial-side is a lighter hue as it represents our view of the moon’s surface from earth, while the back of the watch shows us the dark side that only astronauts get to see. On the back, the words of command module pilot Jim Lovell at the start of the Apollo 8 crew's orbit to the dark side of the moon are inscribed: “We’ll see you on the other side.”

Breitling Navitimer 8 Automatic
Why we love it:

Breitling’s new Navitimer 8 Automatic harkens back to the brand’s wristwatches from the 1930s and 1940s. Relatively cleaner than most of Breitling’s other novelties, it certainly appeals to those who want a rugged, sporty watch but also prefer to keep things simple with just the time and date displayed on the dial.

Mid-sized at 41mm, this chronometer-tested timepiece delivers over 40 hours of power reserve, and is water resistant up to 10 bar. Complete this stealth but cool look with either a leather strap with a pin buckle or a stainless-steel strap.

Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Ceramic
Why we love it:

Jaquet Droz breathes modernity and a hint of edginess to its classic and iconic Grande Seconde line with the Skelet-One Ceramic line. Said to signal a stylistic turning point for the historic brand, this new design allows light through the mechanism, while still preserving the model’s aesthetic signature: the figure 8.

The piece is fitted with a self-winding skeleton mechanical movement with two barrels promising 68 hours of power reserve, and an 18K red gold oscillating weight, housed in a 41.5mm black ceramic case.

De Grisogono New Retro Power Reserve
Why we love it:

There’s something oddly intriguing and uniquely stunning about De Grisogono’s New Retro Power Reserve watch. Then again, with owner and visionary Fawaz Gruosi still very much hands-on when it comes to the brand’s designs, we wouldn't expect any less.

With this watch we see the movement created specifically to fit this rectangular shaped case, and is completely visible from all angles of the watch. The movement is skeletonised to reveal the exquisite delicacy of its finishing and has anthracite rhodium-plated bridges that echo the radiator grilles on vintage cars. This piece promises 48 hours of power reserve, which you can monitor at an indicator at 12 o’clock.
