Couturier Tony Evan launches his new bridal line, Evan and Ivory, to minimalist applause

Move over lace, intricate beading and heavy embroidery. Multi-awarded designer Tony Evan is breaking bridal trends (and rules) and catering to the niche requirements of minimalist brides-to-be who, well, don’t want to look like the rest of their blushing brethren.

For the woman who is looking for something more original and non-traditional, she oughtn’t look farther than Evan and Ivory what with the label’s unapologetic all-frills approach to the classic and elegant bride. Though that statement in itself is dichotomous, Evan somehow beautifully pulls it off.

Sure, the ubiquitous trend of heavily embroidered wedding gowns will never cease to be in demand, but Evan’s aesthetic is one that appeals to those who seek styles that are refreshing yet still classic enough to be deemed appropriate for the occasion. See some of the designs here:

“It all started when inquiries poured in for minimalist bridal gowns,” explains Evan, a womenswear designer who, at the age of 23, was already catering to the modish whims of an international roster of clientele. He adds, “We’ve received numerous requests for gowns but with absolutely no lace or beads and yet what I design still maintains that wow factor.”

Falling in step with the mood of Evan’s main line, his wedding gowns embrace the trademark bold simplicity and nonchalant drama that he is known for. His classic silhouettes are brought to the bridal fore with contemporary details that are defiantly simple and yet romantic at their core. Say “I do” to beautiful non-conformity.
