The designer who was known for her quirky style and excellence in fashion will be sorely missed.

Born Katherine Brosnahan, the designer was well-known for her unique and quirky handbags. Opening her first store in New York in 1993, her designs were an instant hit for women of all ages. She was known for playing between the lines of luxury, classic silhouettes, and exciting colours and patterns. Her handbags were an easy choice for those who love the luxurious feel of a Chanel or Hermès bag but enjoy the casual vibe of a trendy design. Eventually and without surprise, the brand grew into an iconic house in no time.

Today, Kate Spade New York offers a lot more items beyond bags -- from dinnerware, household items, jewellery, clothing for both adults and kids, shoes, and personalised accessories --the brand is a household name for those who love and enjoy a luxurious piece without breaking the bank.

Known for her light and joyful demeanor, Spade's passing came as a shock to many. However, the designer will continue to be known for her dedication to creating items that bring joy and colour to everyday wear and living. She is survived by her husband, Andy Spade, and 13-yr old daughter, Frances Beatrix.
