To curate the celebratory symbolism of good fortune and prosperity, Dior launched a capsule collection featuring gold hues and "the colour of life", which Christian Dior himself reflects as red. The fashion house presents beautiful illustrations of a rising phoenix, where gold hardware complements the intricate craftsmanship, on iconic pieces such as the Lady Dior, the Saddle Bag, Montaigne crossbody, Book Tote and a selection of cardholders and wallets.

For this Lunar New Year, Burberry has released a limited edition Thomas Burberry Monogram with a special design that honours the Year of the Rat. The collection features vivid shades of red on items like an oversized sports-style scarf in wool-silk that is jacquard-woven with Burberry’s TB logo, a contrast sleeve wool bomber jacket with a restyled monogram fitted for the Year of the Rat and even a new take on the Union Sneaker and the Lola bag.

This adorable collection makes us even more excited to celebrate the Year of the Rat, and rightly so. The Italian luxury house's Chinese New Year collection features the world’s most famous mouse—the iconic Walt Disney mascot, Mickey Mouse. Classic pieces such as monogrammed coats and fitted plaid wool shirts with extended collars are restyled sporting Mickey Mouse and a vintage Mini GG pattern to keep the ensemble timeless with a sophisticated level of camp. Minnie Mouse even makes an appearance on a vibrant, summer-ready, lightweight cotton bowling shirt—perfect for those of us who are celebrating in a warmer climate.

To commemorate the Year of the Rat, Moncler refashioned their iconic logo by inverting the Moncler House and alternating the composition to illustrate a mouse. The mouse was kept simple with beady eyes, whiskers and a button nose to hold true with Moncler's monochromatic theme. However, the collection subtly manifests the essence of prosperity and affluence through red and gold flares which accent the black and white palette. You'll be able to wear the brand's Chinese New Year mascot on five different garments including a curved peak hat, a classic cream puffer jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, a two-toned bomber and two T-shirts.

Want to add a bit of an edge to your designer closet for the New Year? Moschino could help with that as it has launched a special Chinese New Year collection featuring a darker version of Mickey Mouse. Going as Mickey Rat, the designs are stitched onto varsity jackets, backpacks, and cotton T-shirt dresses as symbolic patchwork. Moschino will figuratively give your wardrobe a twist—there's no better way to start the New Year than with a closet makeover, right?

To keep things feminine and demure, Chloé released their Chinese New Year 2020 collection that is all about light and vibrant hues. British artist and illustrator Julie Verhoeven worked with the brand to create an exclusive rat motif that is an apt representation of the playful spirit at the heart of the French luxury brand. The motif is painted in a blend of rainbow-bright hues and can be found on T-shirts, the Sonnie sneaker, the mini Chloé C and other leather goods. The dainty and whimsical designs will remain just as appealing even after the New Year has passed.

It is all glitz and glamour for the maison as it releases its Chinese New Year 2020 capsule collection that embraces soft pink hues and a whole lot of sequins for the Year of the Rat. The Fendi Baguette bag, which is enjoying a trendy fashion moment, has been refashioned in pink with red sequins to extend the repertoire of the bag. There is also a mini version of the blinged-out Baguette that will make the perfect accessory to take with you from one house to the next in style as you do your annual visiting. The Italian house did not forget about the symbolism of the Fendi Monster, as the well-loved mascot makes an appearance on a red Peekaboo purse finished with gold hardware for the eyes and handles—a perfect addition to your Monster collection.

Cartier has also launched a special accessories capsule collection for Chinese New Year that includes a rollerball pen, key rings and even a wooden box that you could use to keep dainty jewellery pieces. The luxury brand has also updated its Guirlande de Cartier collection with a Guirlande de Cartier bag in a new nano size that comes in the iconic Cartier red as well as the brand's signature golden motif. We think the auspicious shape of the Guirlande de Cartier octagonal medium pouch, which comes in red calfskin with a golden finish, is an easy way to energise your outfit without compromising on style and tradition.

9. Shang Xia

What better way to ring in Chinese New Year than with Shang Xia, the Chinese brand backed by French luxury fashion house Hermès. If you've always wanted a piece of the celebrated brand, its first Singapore store is now open until Feb 9, 2020, at Takashimaya Department Store. The luxury label is famous for blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern contemporary designs and this is especially evident in the Lan Yue bag, which was inspired by Chinese bamboo baskets. The details of the woven leather on the bag is meant to imitate the way of Jiangnan silk reeling. Fun fact: a version of the Lan Yue in black leather and silver-tone metal from the spring/summer 2019 collection was recently acquired by the iconic V&A.

Take on the Year of the Rat with an abundance of positivity, by incorporating lots of bright, auspicious red tones into your outfits. Salvatore Ferragamo has released a special collection that includes bags and accessories befitting of Chinese New Year. The popular—and very feminine—Vara shoulder bag, featuring its signature bow on the front, and the Vara mini bag come in bright red, and this festive colour remains a strong theme throughout the rest of the collection. The Italian house has also created a beautiful red silk scarf illustrated with floral blossoms. If you're looking for something simple and new for your wardrobe, the clutches, wallets and phone case come in solid black with a hint of red as well as a stylised house logo. But of course, anyone who's willing to make a sartorial statement should definitely strut in a pair of full red sneakers, emblazoned with the iconic Gancini logo in gold with black shoelaces.

The man behind the concept of "everything is ironic", Virgil Abloh, presents a capsule collection which incorporates Off-White's signature quotation marks and is aptly-titled "Lunar New Year". The collection features cultural symbols such as red illustrations of this year's zodiac—the rat and cherry blossom imagery to depict a 'time of renewal'. These emblems can be seen on black T-shirts, jeans, pullovers and hoodies, intertwining with the phrase "Good Luck". To match your fit accordingly, the American designer has also released a range of accessories like cardholders, scarves, a bucket hat, a tote, crossbody bag and a pouch.
