Fashion Icons Collaborate With Havaianas For A One Of A Kind Event

July 27, 2017 | BY Isabel Martel Francisco

12 unique designs were auctioned to support women in need around the world.

It was the strong belief that women can be and already are leaders in this world that made Havaianas bring some of fashion’s biggest names together for a one-of-a-kind fundraising initiative. The flip flop giant created a contemporary collection of footwear, that was put up for auction, in partnership with Women for Women International in order to support its world-changing advocacy.

The Auction:

The auction took place on July 22 in London, England. The 12-piece collaboration was shown at the Somerset House, and featured works from internationally lauded labels, artists and personalities, Manolo Blahnik, Charlotte Olympia, Swarovski, DSQUARED2, Naomi Campbell, Simone Rocha, and more! This spectacular auction was curated by acclaimed fashion entrepreneur Maria Kastani.

All 12 pieces of art were sold online, raising funds for the Women for Women International foundation.

What is Women For Women International?

Women For Women is an organization that strives to uplift, aid and bring awareness to women from areas of conflict by equipping them with vocational and business skills. They do this by helping to improve their overall health and well-being, and ultimately aiming to break them free from trauma and poverty.

The creative process behind each pair was a celebration of both uniqueness and solidarity. Each designer was given a pair of Havaianas and was told to feel free to create whatever they felt represented themselves. Freedom!

For Charlotte Olympia, it was a pair of high platforms with lots of its signature gold and spider webs. For others, it was all about the details: from Manolo Blahnik’s Sicilian rose appliques, to DSQUARED2’s playful useage of straps and colors, to Simone Rocha’s elegant pearls.

This beautiful partnership brought much needed attention to this cause and proved to be quite fruitful. The initiative went beyond the world of fashion and directly impacted the lives of many: it brought about happiness, positivity, sisterhood, love, and most of all – hope.

With this, fashion just became part of something bigger as it supported this advocacy that is investing in women’s futures and the future of women.
