Don’t miss fashion’s big virtual event this Friday with an all-star line-up that includes some of the industry’s biggest names and most followed fashion icons.
Fashion has taken a backseat as the world recovers from the coronavirus outbreak and daily essentials take priority. But in unison with the rest of the world's battle with the pandemic, we witness many fashion brands refusing to rest on their laurels, coming up with infinite ways to do their part in the fight against COVID-19. From hand sanitizers to PPEs, the forces behind some of these fashion houses did not come up short— this is an industry built on creativity, after all. It's only a matter of time when fashion can once again provide a momentary escape and relief from the unpleasant realities and struggles we face today.
Harper's Bazaar Global Fashion Director, Carine Roitfeld, jumpstarts this notion by finding a safe medium to fulfil an alternative for those of us who will be sorely missing the spectacle of fashion shows that have been canceled. Together with director Fabien Constant and TV host/personality Derek Blasberg, the second instalment of CR Runway (a celebrity catwalk concept launched by Roitfeld last year in Florence) will be performed online. The former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris takes the catwalk to YouTube, in a first ever self-filmed fashion show via live stream titled Fashion Unites.
The show seeks to uplift and entertain everyone who are doing their part to flatten the curve by staying safe inside their homes. It will feature different fashion looks the celebrities and models will pull straight out of their closets. A video consultation with Roitfeld will be shown, as well as messages of gratitude for COVID-19’s front liners. Similar to the first CR Runway show, the 30-minute virtual edition will bring together fashion and entertainment heavyweights such as Kim Kardashian West, Hailey Bieber, Carolyn Murphy, Natasha Poly, Eva Herzigova, Ashley Graham, Anok Yai, Winnie Harlow, Stella Maxwell, and Halima Aden.
