Jennie put on a steamy performance of You & Me by trading her Chanel-inspired outfit from Coachella Weekend 1 for a midriff-baring Alessandra Rich ensemble. Her blue satin crop top, which featured a cut-out on the front, was sultry enough, but The Idol actress also completed her look with a pair of ruched mini shorts that showed off her toned legs.

Like Jisoo during Coachella Weekend 1, Lisa made her own chainmail fashion statement on the second weekend of the California music festival. The Money singer wore a David Koma halter-neck top and miniskirt, both crafted with crystal-embellished fish hook chainmail. Instead of going for a full runway look, Lisa also mixed things up with a striking, black and white faux leather jacket by South Korean fashion label Debby Upper.

Rosé continued the chainmail fashion trend with her solo performance of On The Ground. The Blackpink singer chose a dress from Paco Rabanne—the French fashion brand that popularised chainmail in the first place—that featured transparent sequins. For her powerful performance, Rosé also flaunted a dramatic black feather jacket by Michael Ngo.

While her looks for Coachella Weekend 1 leaned on the feminine side, Jisoo went full Barbarella with a metallic outfit that the sci-fi film’s titular character, played by Jane Fonda, would have approved. Jisoo’s asymmetric David Koma mirror chainmail top let her shine during her solo stage performance, while her black shorts featured silver embellishments that nod to her buzzy single: Flowers.

Blackpink opened their high-octane Coachella set clad in—surprise, surprise—custom black and pink outfits designed by Dolce & Gabbana. Unified by the colour palette of their ensembles, each girl group member flaunted a look that was true to their style. Jisoo’s feminine aesthetic was nailed with a floral details and lots of ruffles, while Calvin Klein model Jennie looked tough and toned in a cropped leather jacket paired with a corset top. Strips of pink chiffon fabric were attached to all their outfits, emphasising each Blackpink member’s captivating dance moves. Of course, nobody pulled of those moves more powerfully than Lisa, who looked sultry in crystal mesh sleeves and Michael Ngo lace-up shorts.

Speaking of Lisa, the Thai K-pop star took to the stage looking like Money in a shiny silver ensemble. The futuristic outfit was assembled with the styling of a metallic Mugler bodysuit and an intricate laser-cut bodysuit by Chinese designer Yueqi Qi. Besides making her sparkle like an actual star, Lisa’s outfit also seemed to nod to her embellished Coachella 2019 looks—with an avant-garde upgrade, of course.

Blackpink’s Coachella 2023 set featured solo performances from all four members, including Jisoo. The singer embodied the romantic aesthetic of her debut solo music video, Flowers, in a show-stopping red dress by London designer David Koma. The asymmetrical dress warrants a closer look: it’s elaborately made with chainmail that is adorned with hand-cut leather flowers. Jisoo was truly blooming in the look, which she paired with matching patent leather gloves and platform heels—accessories that she also sports in her music video.

While Jennie didn’t actually wear Chanel—for which she is an ambassador—the Blackpink singer did allude to the French maison’s design codes with her romantic ensemble. She performed her single You & Me in a white lace crop top heavily embellished in pearls, a Chanel signature. Her tulle miniskirt featured a statement floral appliqué, a detail that’s also commonly found across the luxury brand’s collections. And one may wonder if Jennie’s sheer, lace gloves were her way of paying homage to the signature accessory of the late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. Jennie’s entire outfit was the work of Seo Seung Yeon, the designer of the Korean fashion label Dénicheur. The brand’s couture-inspired creations have been a favourite among K-pop stars, and now, thanks to Blackpink, Dénicheur gets its deserved spotlight on the international Coachella stage.

Nobody captured the Californian sense of cool better than Rosé. During her performance of On The Ground, the singer looked like a rockstar with her edgy black leather jacket—complete with fringe, with Coachella-goers are known to love—and her grungy Rick Owens x Dr Martens boots.
