Five Summer Beauty Looks To Try Out
It can be a bit daunting to mix it up when it comes to your make-up. We all have that go-to/ signature look that takes only a few minutes to apply. This summer, why not mix it up and try something different? Makeup can be a fun expression of creativity with an added bonus of looking fabulous! Summer may not be the friendlieast season for full glam but no need to worry! We round-up a few looks you can try that are not only easy to do, but also quirky and fun. Scroll through to find a look that you can try out:
1/5 Dewy Skin
Veer away from the matte-madness and try your hand out with a dewy or "skin-like" look. This look might be tricky if you have oily skin but a mattifying primer might do the trick! Try out the IG-famous Fenty Beauty Primer and top with a foundation that provides a medium finish. We recommend the La Mer foundation or Louminous Silk by Giorgio Armani. Top the look with other cream-based products for your contour and blush. Apply a light hand for shadows to give an over-all effortless summer vibe. Go for a trusty setting spray to finish, making sure your skin looks fresh (and not oily) throught the day!
2/5 Coral or Peach Eyeshadows
What else says summer more than a splash of coral? Pantone's colour of the year isn't just for design, its fast becoming a beauty trend this season. Mix a bit of gold on the top of the lid to give the eye a lifted look. Make sure you don't go overboard and use a nude lip when sporting a bold coral eye. Lather on the mascara to open up the eye — go for the trusty Benefit Roller Lash or the classic Maybelline Hypercurl. A bright/ light-coloured eyeshadow can drown out the lid so don't be afraid to add a bit of eyeliner give to the illusion of doe-eyes!
3/5 Casual 50s Bombshell
Weddings, birthdays, and other functions fill the calendar during the summer. If you're looking for an easy glam that will match your cocktail dress or long gown, why not try out a quick vintage/ old hollywood look? Keep it up to date by going light on the winged liner and instead sport a brown smokey eye. Accentuate the natural shape of your eye by blending cascading colours around your eye... think dark to light, going inward. Create a deeper crease by keeping darker browns by the crease and lighter shadows close to your lashline. With this look, blending is your best friend so invest in a good blending brush. We recommend the Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush. Pair your smokey-eye with a deep burgundy lipstick. Go for a satin-finish lipstick to keep it modern — try out the Lancome L'absolu Lipstick in Shade 515.
4/5 I Woke Up Like This
Summer is a good time to be more relaxed with your makeup routine. Instead of slathering on the products, how about putting to heart the adage, less is more? Find products that will match and amplify your natural features. Start with a sheer/ light-finish foundation that can do a two-in-one job. Try out the Marc Jacobs Shameless foundation which boasts a medium/ buildable finish. Sheer it out with your go-to moisturiser or a trusty serum. Oil-free and weightless, you'll barely feel its there. Stay away from the Insta-brow this season and simply follow your natural brow shape.
Invest in a good eyebrow gel; we recommend the Sunnies Face Lifebrow Grooming Gel that makes sure your brow shape doesnt budge. Apply a blush colour that matches your natural flush. Round-out your look with a matte-finish nude lip. Let your hair down and go through your day looking fresh, polished, and effortlessly stunning!
5/5 Plum and Pink
If you're a fan of cool tones, this is for you! Summer is often associated with warm and peach colours but it can also be a good season to try out different colour schemes. Try a light plum smokey-eye and pair with a strong winged liner for a dose of drama. Go light on the blush and contour to keep it fresh and approachable. Finding a perfect pink nude is difficult so make sure to go through different brands and formulas to find your holy grail. If you're going for a bit of shimmer in the eye, keep your lips matte or top with a clear gloss. Enjoy this beauty look for a night out, social event or even a daytime function!
