With a collection of jewels assembled over time, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo shares why golden South Sea pearls hold a special place in her heart
Dawn began her career in show business about 30 years ago, and her fresh face continues to appear in numerous television commercials and award-winning films to this day. But long before she was exposed to the limelight, Dawn already had an appreciation for the finer things in life and grew up admiring the jewellery the women in her family wore. As a teenager, she would save up her earnings and invest in delicate pieces of jewellery to start a collection of her own. “It was when I reached my early twenties that I began to have a better appreciation of pearls,” reminisces Dawn. “And even then, Jewelmer was already synonymous with fine, high-quality pearls.”
Pearls appealed to Dawn because of the beauty in their simplicity. Even wearing one piece has the ability to make a statement. She still recalls the first sets she acquired at the age of 23—three white South Sea pearls and a pair of black ones. Those memorable pearls have since then been fashioned into a pair of earrings and a cocktail ring, nostalgic pieces she continues to don today.
Over time, Dawn has accumulated a number of Jewelmer sets in her ever-growing collection. “My current favourite is my set of three-strand golden South Sea pearl necklaces that I enjoy wearing together,” she shares. “They can also be worn as a long opera length necklace, depending on my outfit.”
