The whole world has been all abuzz about Alessandro Michele’s Gucci Aria collection in celebration of the fashion house’s centennial anniversary, since its announcement in March. And the teaser videos featuring Gucci’s most famous friends, such as Jared Leto, Miley Cyrus, Madonna and Serena Williams, as well as rumours of a collaboration with Balenciaga have only been stoking the fire.

Finally—Gucci unveiled their highly-anticipated centenary collection yesterday and it certainly lived up to the hype. Revealing that the rumours were indeed true, the Gucci Aria collection was a marriage of the two behemoth Kering brands’ signature styles. Bringing Balenciaga’s structural designs, Demna Gvasalia introduces the classic sharp suit shoulder and non-confirming silhouettes to Michele’s affinity for maximalist romance, from hypnotic prints to sparkling fabrics and feathers.

With inspiration from Gucci’s rich archive, the collection also stars embossed equestrian accessories and feathers reminiscent of the old Hollywood glamour found in the iconic Savoy Hotel in London, where founder Guccio Gucci worked as a liftboy.

The show also marked the debut of Gucci's high jewellery Hortus Deliciarum collection by Michele. Take a look at some of our favourite fashion moments from the action-packed show.
