Virgil Abloh brings two icons together with a bespoke line of Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers

Hold everything, Virgil Abloh has just given us the holy grail for spring/summer 2022. Last night, Louis Vuitton presented its men’s SS22 collection via an epic cinematic film starring cultural icons such as Goldie, GZA, Saul Williams, Issa Perica, Caleb Femi and more. But one runway reveal really made fans go wild: Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Nike on Air Force 1 sneakers.

The sneakers will come in 21 colourways—including ones with the house’s iconic Damier check and the LV Monogram canvas—and have been given Abloh’s signature stamp as well. The word “Air” has been emblazoned on the sole and the word “Lacet” (French for laces) on the shoelaces in the designer’s recognisable quotation marks. Another detail on the shoes to mark the collaboration is a neon green tag on the side of the shoe, a label with the Louis Vuitton name and the Nike swoosh on the tongue, WWD reports.

What’s more, Abloh has even created a special case to house the sneakers in bright orange leather stamped with Louis Vuitton’s monogram and quatrefoil motifs, and also added the Nike swoosh as luggage tag on several bag iterations.

“A cultural symbol in its own right, today the Nike Air Force 1 serves as an objet d’art emblematic of self-generated subcultural provenance,” the post-show press release said. “For spring/summer 2022, Virgil Abloh collaborates with Nike on bespoke Air Force 1s, fusing the trainer’s classic codes with the insignia and materials of Louis Vuitton in homage to the hip-hop culture that shaped him.”

Now the only questions that remain: when are they going to be released, where can we get them, and how much will they cost?
