It was an affair (a bridal one, that is) to remember…

Every bride-to-be and couple-to-wed who were in attendance at the sensational Marry Me at Marriott bridal extravaganza is still coming down from a romantic high.

From the Marriott Manila’s well-appointed Grand Ballroom to the seamless choreography of ethereal creations parading down the catwalk to the megawatt superstars donning exquisite designs (Anne Curtis in a stunning bold red Michael Leyva number comes to mind), to the sleek Benzes rolling past the spectators to the stupendous multi-tiered confection that descended slow-mo from an elaborate suspended trellis – there was something for everyone.

Marry Me At Marriot has become quite the hot ticket event being that in the five illustrious years that it has been existence, it has grown exponentially not only in spectatorship, but also in terms of its influential names that clamour to collaborate for this annual fairy-tale. Indeed, MMAT never fails to surprise and continues to get bigger and better each year.

No less than Manila’s most coveted names in event styling, Gideon Hermosa, Michael Ruiz and Teddy Manuel (AKA the GMT) put their creative minds together to impressive effect as their romantic vision of lush floral installations, plush draping and elaborate chandeliers came together beautifully. Executive Chef Meik Brammer pulled out all the stops and put on an excellent show himself with a grand-scale wedding feast for more than more than 1000.

The big draw, of course, were the brilliant headliners Avel Bacudio, Hannah Kong, Happy Andrada and Michael Leyva and their famous muses. Leyva opened the show with his muse and young designer Patty Ang and then had Anne Curtis wow the crowd in a bold red creation with a train of ruffles that went on for days. Andrada’s sweet bridesmaids Lorin and Venice Gutierrez, as well as Janeena Chan were lovely as could be in her nude palette.

Kathleena Tan (daughter of Kevin Tan) and Aria Gutierrez (daughter of Gutierrez) opened for Kong as cute flower girls and then Maricar Reyes-Poon, Tricia Gosingtian and Olympian Hidilyn Diaz floated down the runway in absolute whimsical creations. Bacudio’s line-up was absolute bridal bliss but it was his grand finale with dreamy grooms Sam Wilson and Alden Richards that had the brides (and al the ladies for that matter) blushing.
