A trio of bridal fashion’s most sought-after visionaries, Rosenthal Tee, Mak Tumang and Amir Sali, made this year’s annual “Marry Me at Marriott” an almost quixotic formula that will be hard to beat

Part bridal fairy godmother, part fashion extravaganza, The Marriott Manila’s annual bridal showcase what with its catchy moniker and hashtag has gained unstoppable momentum and become quite the hot ticket since its very first show in 2013.

Staged at the well-appointed address that is the country’s largest hotel convention space, the 3000-square-metre Marriott Grand Ballroom (which opened in 2015) where many a lavish affair has unfolded, this year, the usual fashion show format evolved to an elegant sit-down dinner event.

Instead of row upon row filled with 700 of Manila’s style mavens and influencers, wedding industry leaders, media personalities, and research-ready couples, Marry Me at Marriott 2018 did it “wedding reception” style. Here, elaborately decorated round tables were strewn about the runway and a sumptuous four-course wine dinner masterfully executed by Executive Chef Meik Brammer and his team was served pre-show.

Before being ushered inside for the main attraction, guests meandered through the bridal fair on the foyer featuring top wedding suppliers offering premium services such as Pat Dy, Nice Print Photography, Jason Magbanua, Project Mayo 7, Write Impressions, Print Divas, Knotville, The Good Goods, Periwinkle and Lace, Albert Kurniawan, Tris Events, and Christine Ong-Te Events. Accentuating the regal 12-foot-high Grand Ballroom on this evening were dazzling chandeliers suspended from the draped and embellished ceiling by top event stylists Gideon Hermosa, Michael Ruiz, and Teddy Manuel.

The highlight of the evening, the fashion show itself brought together an eclectic—albeit world-renowned—mix of designers: Three bold-faced names, three different generations, three vastly differing aesthetics.

The romanticist in the young and accomplished designer and Generation T lister, Rosenthal Tee, brought out classic lines and silhouettes for every bride out there. Her collection, which opened the show, was worn by the lovely Lovi Poe and Miss International, Philippines, Ahtisa Manalo. Mak Tumang, the modernist, showed off his skills brandishing frills, thrills, edgy accents and more than wowed the crowd when he put his beauty queen muses, Valerie Weigman and Catriona Gray (Miss Universe Philippines representative), in stand-out numbers.

Amir Sali, whose masterpieces have wowed monarchs and been donned by Middle Eastern royalty closed the evening with a truly powerful collection from start to finish. Though avante-garde, and with an excessive accessory here and there, Sali’s bridal looks were absolutely a princess bride’s dream. Now on its sixth year, the Marriott Hotel Manila has proven once again, as part of its weddings campaign and its commitment to making grand weddings come to life, Marry Me at Marriott, deserves the hallmark of being the country’s top bridal show.
