A timepiece is a great investment opportunity; seize the opportunity to find a watch that will last you for more than a lifetime.

Many believe that a watch is a versatile piece of accessory, built to amplify one’s ensemble. But in reality, it’s much more than that — it can also be a lifelong investment. There's always a plethora of considerations when choosing a watch, especially one that you intend to wear daily. With numerous options out there, where does one begin? Scroll through to find out a few points you shouldn't miss when investing in a timepiece:

Evaluate your lifestyle needs

A watch can easily reflect the wearer’s philosophy in life. It’s not simply a carefree addition to your everyday look… if you’re an adventurer or one who maintains an active lifestyle, it’s best to invest in watch that’s been rigorously-tested. Inspired by Minerva pocket watches and monopusher chronographs from the 20s and 30s, the Montblanc 1858 collection was born to be the perfect companion for mountaineers or adventurers. Not merely all-utility, this collection features intricately-designed pieces that boast a long-standing history of attention to detail.

Think about quality

Montblanc fine watchmaking is powered by a unique set-up of two Manufactures that come together seamlessly to create the finest timepieces and the most innovative calibres that the highest level of Swiss watchmaking can deliver.  This is the level of craftmanship one should pay attention to when investing in a timepiece to last you a long time. The Manufacture in Villeret, Montblanc’s Movement & Innovation Excellence Centre, is located in the same building in which the legendary Minerva Manufacture was founded in 1858 and focuses on the development, prototyping and assembly of all in-house movements from innovative and groundbreaking high-complications to small highly functional complications.

The Manufacture in Le Locle is Montblanc’s Watch & Quality Excellence Centre where traditional watchmaking is paired with state-of-the art technology. From aesthetical design to the construction and prototyping of cases, dials, hands and key components, all the expertise necessary to create a timepiece beyond the movement is concentrated in one location. Thus, the meeting of two great worlds consistently pave the way for excellent collections that are reliable day in and day out.

Versatility is king

The 1858 collection was largely inspired by the world of mountain exploration. However, its high accuracy and unique style make it not only a functional piece but more so a fashionable staple. Vintage complications enhanced by bronze and khaki colours make each edition a sight to behold. Any piece from the collection can easily transform from day to night.

Invest in brand integrity

Right from the beginning of the production process, the watchmakers in the Montblanc Manufacture in Le Locle do everything to uphold the superior quality of all individual parts of a timepiece. The manufacturing methods, the expertise and the love of meticulous detail ensure that the finished products meet Montblanc’s highest standards of quality. To guarantee the foremost level of performance of the Montblanc timepiece, the quality team of the Montblanc Manufacture developed and implemented a comprehensive testing program to assure  the highest quality of the Montblanc watches  before it leaves the Manufacture.

The Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 simulates real life situation. The timepiece is precisely examined in a special laboratory and tested under conditions that recreate as closely as possible the environment that the watch will encounter when it is worn. The testing program consists of several phases, each of which is performed to meet the  highest quality in the watchmaking industry. Instruments specially developed for Montblanc monitor and evaluate each test. The individual testing methods applied and the duration of the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 testing period make this examination truly special in the world of fine watchmaking.

Several iterations of the 1858 edition are available to choose from. From monopusher or automatic chronographs to pocket watches and geosphere pieces, the 1858 collection has something for every type of wearer. Its masculine style and earthy colour-ways give the wearer a lot of options, depending on their character and preference.

Watches seem superfluous to today's world of omnipresent time-telling devices. That's why it is more important than ever to invest in a timepiece that reflects who you are and is not merely there to remind you of the day ticking away. Don't skimp out on evaluating your needs as a wearer to make sure you take home a watch that is an extension of your own unique character.
