The red carpet was awash with creams, golds and metallics on Sunday night as the great and good of Hollywood stepped out for the 89th Academy Awards. But amidst the charming neutrals there were flashes of glamorous crimson and sexy black. Here are 10 dresses that stole the show.
‘Best Actress' winner Emma Stone channeled her inner flapper girl in a gold Givenchy couture gown.
Isabelle Huppert covered up head-to-toe in a shimmering cream Armani Privé creation with rose pink undertones.
Janelle Monaé stole the show in a black and silver embellished Elie Saab dress, featuring a huge train and a semi-sheer embroidered bodice.
‘Best Supporting Actress' winner Viola Davis opted for timeless glamour in an off the shoulder scarlet Armani silk curve-hugging gown.
Brie Larson vamped things up in a black, strapless Oscar de la Renta.
Halle Berry commanded attention in a black and gold fringed Atelier Versace creation.
Naomie Harris kept things minimalist in a cutaway pearl dress from Calvin Klein by Appointment, teamed with mismatching yellow and silver sandals.
Hailee Steinfeld was a vision in a hand-painted pearl grey silk organza gown by Ralph & Russo.
Dakota Johnson turned to Gucci for her yellow-gold silk gown, which featured a high, ruffled neck and bow detailing across the hips.
Michelle Williams was another actress wearing cream on the red carpet, but her sequined Louis Vuitton gown also featured a low-cut halterneck black bodice.
