Forget the smoky eye -- warmer days are around the corner and the Spring 2018 shows were all about colourful eye makeup.

The catwalk beauty looks focused on vibrant splashes of colour, from chunky pastel stripes at Missoni, to jewel-toned metallic liner at Emporio Armani. Tadashi Shoji channelled the 1980s by adorning the model's eyes with soft rings of bright blue, while Chromat used dashes of neon eyeshadow to make the eyes pop, and Delpozo focused on neon orange liner, blending it out over the eyelids to a soft coral hue. During the Spring 2018 Haute couture shows, Iris Van Herpen continued the trend, sending models down the runway with slicked-back hair and almost no visible makeup other than a technicolor pop of neon underliner.

The rainbow hued look appears to be equally as popular with celebrities as it is with designers -- the past few months have seen some of the most famous red carpets in the world play host to multiple bold, colorful eyeshadow looks. Stars putting their own, indomitable spin on the trend include Janelle Monae, whose sea green underliner for the 60th Grammy Awards back in January was bang on trend. Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld also showed up to the same event sporting an ethereal wash of aquamarine eyeshadow, while singer Andra Day made a bold statement with a stunning purple hue. Brie Larson pulled off 1980s-worthy blue eye makeup at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, while Danai Gurira put a metallic gold twist on the classic winged liner look at the "Black Panther" premiere.
