SK-II is channelling the power of collaborative art for a new immersive beauty experience.

The prestige Japanese skincare brand has unveiled "SK-II Artist Series: Power of Pitera," an artistic exhibition that takes inspiration from its signature Pitera Essence.

Helmed by Carol Lim, co-founder of the fashion label Opening Ceremony, the exhibition sees a range of artists reimagine Pitera through collage, sculpture, painting, photography, graphics and even modern dance. Participating creatives include illustrator Han Ram, design magazine Toilet Paper, choreographer Ryan Heffington and photographer Zhong Lin.

The exhibition will run through November 24 in Shanghai, and artworks will appear in SK-II's debut art-inspired store design for the Matsumoto Kiyoshi, Ikebukuro flagship outlet set to open in December in Tokyo.

"Over the years we have partnered with artists to reimagine our iconic Pitera Essence through limited edition designs," said Sandeep Seth, Chief Executive Officer, Global SK-II. "We wanted to take this to the next level and push the boundaries." He added: "To connect with the consumers of this generation, it is no longer about selling products, but engaging her -- head, heart and soul and finding new and meaningful ways to do so."

"We wanted to break the mould of stereotype on how the beauty brands should look like and push it to the new dimensions," explained Lim. "SK-II Artist Series: Power of Pitera is reflective of the exploration I do in my line of work. You should feel a bit uncomfortable & scared because it means that you are pushing yourself."

SK-II is poised to explore the merging of art and beauty with the opening of its Ikebukuro flagship outlet, which will feature manga-inspired design language for a unique retail experience.
