The much-awaited 92nd Academy Awards had us on the edge of our seats as our favourite nominees and Hollywood celebrities don the most elegant ensembles. There were no shortage of breathtaking looks as we witnessed Hollywood glamour in all forms: attendees step out in one exquisite couture to the next, making this years Oscars the most frenzied red carpet event of the year. There were evening gowns derived straight from the archives of some of the most luxurious fashion houses, while others pushed fort with innovative modes of sustainable fashion—the pendulum swung from end to end—making this list a hard one to make!

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior

The incredibly elegant and statuesque Theron stunned in a black Dior gown which had a thigh-high slit and a draped shoulder strap.

Scarlett Johansson in Oscar de la Renta

Johansson continued her best dressed red carpet streak, she turned heads in a custom metallic Oscar de la Renta evening gown.

Caitriona Balfe in Maison Valentino

Wearing Valentino haute couture, Balfe brought old school glamour as she made her way through the red carpet. The black dress paired with a sheer pink overlay and oversized bow features a mermaid silhouette.

Kristen Wiig in Maison Valentino

Wiig makes a remarkable entrance in this bold Valentino number, designed with ruffle details and a dramatic train which she wore with evening gloves.

Renée Zellweger in Emporio Armani

In pristine-white custom Emporio Armani one-shoulder dress, Best Actress Zellweger looked radiant. Quickly becoming her signature look, she kept everything else minimal and undone.

Natalie Portman in Dior

Natalie Portman is regal in a black and gold Dior ensemble, featuring a cape, gold embellishments and name embroidery. Her chopped locks and nude lips kept this ensemble looking youthful and fresh.

Brie Larson in Celine

Another cape number, Larson hit the mark in this sparkly and fully-sequined Elie Saab evening gown. She kept this look modern, by opting for a sleek updo and barely-there make up.

Penelope Cruz in Chanel

A white rose, a pearl belt, Cruz's vintage frock had all the elements that makes a Chanel gown unmistakable. A classic, old Hollywood look which she paired down with loose straight hair.
