It was only fitting that Arianne Kader and Martin Cu would wed at the idyllic Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa where they shared their first kiss six years ago. Rain or shine, the destination was carved in stone—though a contingency tent was even fl own in from Iloilo due to the unfavourable weather forecast! Everything, however, fell blissfully into place on their big day. The sun shone on as 170 guests dressed in their tropical island best—think flowy florals for the ladies and easy, breezy linens for the gents—to celebrate the couple’s union. The bride’s family pastor, Bruce Sonnenberg, officiated the ceremony while classical versions of Kanye West and Cool Bandit hits performed by The Vitamin Strings quartet wafted through the air. No less than the effervescent groom’s mother, Arlene Cu, led the creative execution with special attention rendered by Javi Martinez of Yaparazzi events. The maid of honour, the lovely Cristina Cu, did a spectacular job of the photo and video coverage. A curated and rather extensive selection of fine whisky courtesy of the groom (his main task throughout their one-year engagement), was served at the reception while everyone got on the dance floor to groove to the sounds of Manja, an awesome Indonesian band.
