The Sotheby's auction will benefit Orbis International, a long-term partner of Omega

Omega will auction 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases through Sotheby's. Each suitcase contains all 11 Omega x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches, the first time they are offered as a set. Bidding starts on Sotheby's website on February 12 and ends on February 24, 2024.

All proceeds will go to benefit Orbis International, which fights vision loss, especially among children around the world. The organisation also operates the Flying Eye Hospital, a fully accredited teaching hospital on board an MD-10 aircraft. Omega has partnered with Orbis since 2011.

When it was introduced in 2022, the Omega and Swatch-collab MoonSwatch in bioceramic created a buying frenzy across the globe for looking like an Omega Speedmaster but at a much friendlier price. Last year, the MoonSwatch coated the seconds hand in Omega-exclusive Moonshine gold.

The suitcase is interesting too as it contains a golden monocle of the Omega x Swatch logo, a one-of-a-kind coin engraved with the three-letter aviation code of the displayed city i.e. HKG for Hong Kong; the same code is also engraved on the side of the watches.
