After spending a decade in the retail industry, Hindy took a permanent break from corporate life and left the city behind. This mum of four then found her calling as a biodynamic farmer, co-founding Holy Carabao Holistic Farms in 2007. It began with a simple desire to feed her family better food, so Hindy and her husband Gippy decided to grow their own produce in the backyard. The little family initiative then became a business that takes a holistic approach—naturally-grown produce by farmers and staff that are well taken care of, animals that are treated humanely, and business practices that are transparent.

Holistic is the operative word in Hindy’s background, as this is also how she approaches wellness. Self-care is but a part of the process, as it’s most important to “love and know yourself, and have a purpose in life that is bigger than you.”

Bianca Araneta Elizalde

In the 90s, Bianca built a career in modelling and television. As such, she was a fixture on magazine covers and various commercials. She has since moved on to other endeavours, specifically, business and advocating for organic eating and clean living.

Outside of family life, Bianca spends her days growing her organic restaurant chain, The Wholesome Table, in line with her commitment to support the local organic agriculture industry and educate the public about clean and healthy eating. She has been practicing a “lifestyle of living clean and organic” for about two decades now, but her interest actually began in high school, when she started to research the correlation between food and health, as well as the environmental impact of consumption.

This lifestyle ultimately became part of a bigger journey—one that is rooted in self-care. For her, the process started with small but sure steps that eventually led to a bigger change. That change also meant growing out of her insecurities. As she puts it: “I wish people stopped comparing. Instead of looking outwards and wanting what’s there, look in and see what you can do to make yourself better.”

Nikki Torres

For Nikki, the road to fitness started not with the body, but with the mind. Her journey began at the tender age of 12. She spent quite some time looking at other women’s bodies to motivate herself to get fit, comparing her own body and progress with someone else’s. Then, she started to confront her issues with body image. After conquering the mind, she worked on making her body stronger.

Now, Nikki is a fitness designer, yoga teacher, and she has also created her own toning and dance cardio workout called NT Sweat. Her principle hinges on “a holistic approach to overall wellness.” She believes that in order to live a healthy lifestyle, what it takes is balance, consistency, and moderation, and of course, to do it out of self-love.

Hindy, Bianca, and Nikki understand the importance of self-care in living a holistic lifestyle. They get a little bit of help from the things they use in their everyday lives. For that, they get their fix from Adore Botanicals, with products that harness the powers of precious ingredients, most notably, stem cells from a rare Swiss apple, to indulge and improve the skin.

Visit the Adore Botanicals boutique in Shangri-La Plaza to get started on the journey to self-care.
