New safety protocols are just at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the hospitality industry
COVID-19 has not done any favours to the hospitality industry. But as Manila slowly reopens, hotels have been given a bit more breathing room to jumpstart their businesses. Of course, the first thing in everyone's mind is safety, which is why these Manila hotels have been initiating health protocols to protect both guests and personnel.
1. Marco Polo Ortigas Manila
The Ortigas central business district would be incomplete without the Marco Polo Ortigas Manila—which had recently been awarded a 5-star rating for its fourth year in a row. Aside from launching its new takeaway menu, the luxury hotel has also reopened its lobby coffee shop, Café Pronto, alongside all-day restaurants such as Cucina and Lung Hin. Of course, these are caveats, more specifically, the ones set by the Inter-Agency Task Force with regards to dine-in capacity and other protocol.
Marco Polo Ortigas also subscribes to the "Safe Travels" protocols as set by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). These include procedures for everything from food preparation to operational procedures. Specific guidelines are available here.
As an added layer of protection, Marco Polo has also promised to regularly mist and disinfect common hotel facilities including lifts, hallways, and lobbies. Guest rooms are set to be sanitised every time they are made up, with misting scheduled every two days. Elevators and high-touch surfaces (such as door handles and counters) are sanitised every half hour and in-house laundry detergents used are those that adhere to international sanitation measures.
