PETA'S ONLINE WORKSHOPS

The Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA) continues its bi-annual theatre workshops, this time on their digital platform. They are featuring their new edition of "Creative Musical Theatre for Adults" starting 25 August to 04 September. It is also introducing new programs namely, "Intro to Visual Arts" from 22 August to 05 September, and "Intro to Writing for Performance" from 17 to 21 August.

Moreover, PETA is launching an exclusive and immersive theatre workshop program for adults called "Let's Get Creative PLUS!". The program accessible via Zoom application includes acting classes for stage and screen facilitated by some of the company's foremost actor-members.

BALLET PHILIPPINES ONSTREAM

Leading professional classical and contemporary dance institution Ballet Philippines has just launched its BP OnStream program, promising a lineup of its archival shows and more that can be watched on the Ballet Philippines' website.

"In these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are determined to continue to bring you enriching content to keep the love and practice of ballet alive in the Philippines. From exercise tutorials to lectures and masterclasses, our new series of online offerings will carry the artistry of Ballet Philippines direct into your home," as stated in its website.

For its inaugural offering, award-winning designer Gabriel Barredo and choreographer Rheda's Opera is currently streamable on the website, divided into three acts.

Watch out for masterclasses by Mikhail Martynyuk (Ballet Philippines' 51st Season Artistic Director), Joseph Phillips (Dancer, teacher, and choreographer of Ballet Philippines), and Joshua Serafin (The Dystopian Body Method), coming out soon, as well as the archival footage of the revered company's 2019 production of Swan Lake with Toto Sicangco.

TANGHALANG PILIPINO'S "LUKOT-LUKOT, BILOG-BILOG"

Eljay Deldoc and Abner Delina Jr.'s comedy Lukot-Lukot, Bilog-Bilog is now available on Tanghalang Pilipino's Youtube channel. Originally staged last December 2017 at the Cultural Centre of the Philippines, the play celebrates human values and explores the true meaning of happiness, giving audiences a fresh take on frugality (be it in finances or in human relationships). The cast includes Blanche Buhia, Eunice Pacia, Jonathan Tadioan, and Aldo Vencilao.

RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN'S "CAROUSEL"

Debuted in 1945 on Broadway, the Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical based on Ferenc Molnar's play Liliom is now available on Youtube for a limited time period only. The 2013 production of the musical, staged at the Lincoln Centre by the New York Philharmonic, features Tony award-winner Kelli O'Hara, Nathan Gunn and other award-winning actors like Jessie Mueller, John Cullum, Suler Hensley as well as New York City Ballet dancers, Robert Fairchild, and Tiler Peck. The stream is available until 08 September only.

BALLET MANILA'S "ROMEO AND JULIET"

The last of the three final performances of Prima Ballerina, Lisa Macuja Elizalde, is Ballet Manila's Romeo & Juliet, which was staged last 22 October 2011 at the Aliw Theatre. Watch it again, or for the first time for those who have not yet seen it, on Ballet Manila's Youtube channel, as well as the other spectacular performances from the renowned ballet company.
